Exhibition SITTING IN CHINA
The exhibition SITTING IN CHINA has been extended to March 11, 2006.
The exhibition is a fascinating combination of photographs on the theme "sitting in China", which includes images of chairs and stools in scenes of daily life in the People's Republic, collected by Wolf on his numerous travels. These real-life objects ("Bastard Chairs") with their idiosyncratic aesthetics and surprising pragmatics raise questions about our own concept of design. And with an individuality characterized by improvisation and temporary use, they are as far removed from our designer furniture as they are from classical Chinese-style furniture. Every image, every object is its owner's place marker and has its own story to tell.
