As part of the 'Stuttgart Photo Summer 2010' Berthold Steinhilber will be showing a selection of eight portraits from his Jesus project Faces of Jesus. For this long-term project (2008-2012) he is photographing actors who play Jesus in Passion Plays performed in Central Europe. The project focuses on the fascination that the religious plays still generate, on the different ways actors interpret the character of Jesus, and on the kind of clichés that have developed around the persona of Jesus.
