Daniel Rosenthal's Exhibition in San Francisco
The Goethe Institute of San Francisco shows Daniel Rosenthals pictures of street kids in Berlin.
5th November 23rd December 2009
According to estimates of various aid agencies, about 9,000 children and teenagers live on the streets throughout Germany, including roughly 3,000 or more in Berlin. Neglect, violence, abuse, drug consumption or poverty at home forces them to flee into the anonymity of the big city. Once there, the street becomes not just their main place of residence but the most basic factor in their socialization and development.
These photographs were taken over the course of a month in which Daniel Rosenthal followed
the daily routine of a group of Berlin's street kids.
