Britta Jaschinski, born in Bremen, trained as a photographer in Germany before studying photography at Bournemouth Art College in England. After her studies Jaschinski produced a series of works about animals in zoos which attracted much attention. The series was published by Phaidon Press UK under the title ZOO. Among other prizes, she won the Agfa International Prize for Young Photo-Journalists, was nominated for the European Photography Award, and received a distinction in the Oskar Barnack awards. Jaschinski's latest book 'Verehrte Tiere' was published in Germany by the Knesebeck publishing house in conjunction with GEO. It was also published under the title 'Wild Animals' by Thames & Hudson in the UK and by Powerhouse Books in the US. An exhibition of the same name is currently touring Europe and can be booked from the photographer. Jaschinski lives in London and works as a free-lance photographer for magazines, newspapers and publishers of travel literature around the world.
